The goal of KAHE Performance is to help others reach their highest levels of performance in fitness and life through training, nutrition and wellness. Over the past three years, I have been studying the concept of "Flow" and have applied it to these fields.
Flow is the place where you are fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full connection and enjoyment in the process of an activity. For me, Flow happens when my mind and body are connected and time seems to slip away. Through this feeling, I've been able to do some of my best training and thinking.
KAHE Performance is a place to share my experiences with Flow in the hope that you can find this state in your own life. Whether you are a recreational athlete, elite athlete, or simply someone seeking a healthier lifestyle, I believe KAHE Performance, and entering a Flow state, can help you reach your goals.

Join me on my journey to find Flow through reading and interacting with the blog and please feel free to share your experiences as you discover your Flow.

KAHE (ka - he), v.
[kahe, flow; to run like water]
Since a young age, health and fitness have been key pillars of my life. Growing up I was involved in youth sports leagues and in high school, I was a multi-sport athlete participating in soccer, football, volleyball and track & field. At Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I played in as many intramural sports as my schedule would allow, frequenting the soccer, flag football and ultimate frisbee leagues. But after graduating from college in 2019, I suddenly did not see as many pathways to develop my athletic abilities, especially those in a group environment. Although I began weight lifting before work, I felt like something was missing.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, with the gyms closed and frankly not much to focus on, I began to delve into a new area of fitness: endurance sports. I won't lie to you, the first few months were grueling, filled with slow paced miles and several "hands on the knees" moments during runs (it had been quite some time since my days in high schools sports...). But the feelings of clarity, relaxation, euphoria and delight that came to me after my runs made the pain worth it. Before long, I began to enjoy my runs and would lose track of time while jogging the streets and trails of my neighborhood.

When the gyms re-opened, I developed a hybrid athlete approach to fitness. I continued to log miles and I began to lift again. I have maintained this approach to fitness over the course of the past few years, sometimes ramping up my endurance workouts while at other times focusing on strength building. Throughout this period, I have sought out programs and methodologies to help me reach my highest level goals in fitness. At the same time, I've also strived to find a sense of purpose and enjoyment in these activities that extends past my time-oriented goals. I seek to find Flow in fitness and Flow in everyday life.
